COVID-19 Policies

(Updated May 11, 2022)

As this is a USCF-sponsored event, we must follow precautions to ensure your safety and the safety of our guests. After discussion with UCSF leadership and other personnel and reviewing venue guidelines, the COVID requirements have been revised as of May 9, 2022. We reserve the right to update these requirements in compliance with changes to venue policy, UCSF policy, and local public health orders, and if so, will notify you as soon as possible.

There are slight differences in the policies for UCSF learners/faculty/staff and event guests. Please read through all the requirements carefully. Please share this information with your guests so they can ensure their compliance, and they will receive an email directly as well. Non-compliance with these requirements will mean that you or your guest(s) will not be able to attend the event.

First: If you or your guest(s) feel ill or are experiencing COVID symptoms, please do not attend. This is a big day for all the graduates, please be respectful of others and their safety.

Vaccination Requirements

All event attendees 12 years of age and older must show proof of full vaccination (card or photo of card) for entry to the venue. This includes first booster for those eligible to have received it based on the time elapsed since completion of their initial vaccine regimen. (UCSF learners/employees do not need to bring this information, as it is on file at UCSF.) Medical and religious exemptions will not be granted.

Policy for children 11 and under:

Event attendees ages five (5) to eleven (11) years must present proof of full vaccination, (card or photo of card) or a negative “rapid” antigen test result received within one-day prior to their entry, or a negative PCR test result received within two-days prior to their entry. (Photo or printout of test results.)

Event attendees ages two (2) to four (4) years must present a negative “rapid” antigen test result received within one-day prior to their entry, or a negative PCR test result received within two-days prior to their entry. (Photo or printout of test results.)

Event attendees under age two (2) must present negative COVID test (PCR) performed within 72 hours prior to their entry, and the child should be held in arms for the event. (Photo or printout of test results.)

Masks

Well-fitting masks are required for all attendees. (Surgical masks or N95 masks are recommended.) Masks must be well-fitted and cover the nose, mouth, and chin. A well-fitted mask does not include a scarf, ski mask, balaclava, bandana, turtleneck, collar, single layer of fabric, or any mask that has an unfiltered one-way exhaust valve.

UCSF Health Screener

All event attendees must complete the UCSF Health Screener before arriving at the event and show their “Cleared” screen at the venue.

Guests must complete the UCSF Guest Screener

For the purposes of the screener, you are a “campus guest” and your campus host is “UCSF Fresno".

You should complete the employer/learner screener as usual. Everyone (you and your guests) should screenshot their “Cleared” screen to show at the venue.

Certain situations (as listed below) may cause a fully vaccinated person to fail the screener. Graduates, if any of these situations apply to you, you are encouraged to do a Color test one to two days in advance of the ceremony to ensure participation. Guests may still be able to attend under the following criteria:

Persons with COVID in last two weeks

A person who had COVID may attend if it has been at least 6 days since symptom onset (or positive COVID test if no symptoms). Persons must also not be immunocompromised, symptoms must have improved, and they must have received a negative antigen test any time any time after day 5. (Photo or printout of test results.)

Persons with unprotected high-risk exposure to COVID

A person with unprotected High Risk COVID exposure (greater than 15 minutes within 6 feet of person with COVID) in the past 10 days may attend if they have no symptoms, a negative COVID PCR or other nucleic acid amplification test performed within 48 hours of event, and negative antigen test on day of event. (Photo or printout of test results.)

Persons arriving from outside U.S. in the past 10 days

A person arriving from outside the U.S. in the past 10 days may attend if they have a negative COVID PCR or other nucleic acid amplification test performed within 48 hours of event. (Photo or printout of test results.)

Everyone can complete the UCSF Health screener daily, and the results are good for 24 hours. If you or your guests are unsure of their status, and if they may fail, all are encouraged to take the screener daily for several days prior to the event to know if they need to be tested.

Guests should use the Guest Health Screener.

Learners/faculty/employees should use the UCSF app or visit ucsfhealth.org/daily-health-screening.
